There is nothing better than gathering together for the Holidays and here in Australia restrictions have ended just in time for all the season’s festivities to begin!

With Christmas just a few short weeks away you are probably in full planning mode on how to make it super special for the ones you love so we have put together an easy 4 step guide on how to create a sweet festive table that your little ones will love (but that will also let you enjoy your Christmas lunch too!)

Step 1. The Kids Table

Start with a table and chairs thats kid friendly - Let’s be honest they can’t sit still for more than a few moments and with so much going on and all that excitement, a table that they can easily access without your help will make it so much easier.

Use what you have at home and dress it up with a fun tablecloth to make it feel more festive.

Step 2. Add Festively Fun Tableware

Make it fun with cute paper plates, napkins, paper cups and straws - It is a party after all! I like to layer the plates because it not only makes the table look beautifully set but is also very practical. Each child has a plate for food and plate for dessert which is super handy!

In keeping with our red and gold colour theme I started with a large gold paper plate and added a smaller red paper plate with a sweet ‘Merry Christmas’ print on top, and paired those with fun ‘Be Jolly!’ paper cups, wooden forks, gold paper straws and napkins.

Step 3. Deck the Halls with Decorations

A fun centrepiece, a few balloons and a few sweet treats will really make your kids table super fun, inviting and entertaining. We added a gingerbread house to our table that the kids could add-to (or eat!) and finished the theme with a few sisal trees and woodland tree decorations.

The floating reindeer balloon above the table was by far the biggest hit with the kids. They named him Rudolf and took turns taking him for walks around the house. As foil balloons stay inflated for a few days we saved time by inflating the balloon the day before, and he was well loved for a few days after as well.

Step 4. Add a Game or Activity

Table games and activities at the Christmas table is an absolute must! Our top pick for the kids table game this year is the Santa Wonderball - A pass-the-parcel type game with a Santa-shaped giant ball of wrapped coloured crepe paper that gets passed around and unwrapped to find all the hidden treasures and fun things hidden inside the layers.

We also love a craft activity which can keep the kids entertained for a little while - Colouring in sheets, pencils and stickers are great and good for mixed age groups.

Top Tip: Create super fun DIY Bon Bons filled with a craft activity instead of throwaway plastic toys.
